About
I’m a writer, photographer and technologist with a professional background in communications strategy, human rights advocacy, blogging and journalism. Vist my LinkedIn profile for a more detailed resumé.
I am employed by Management Sciences for Health (MSH), where I am Senior Manager of Online Communications. The views I express on hungryblues.net and other websites and networks linked here are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of MSH.
In association with the Civil Rights Cold Case Project, I do journalism on racial violence in the South and present-day efforts to seek justice for those crimes against African Americans and their allies. I am investigating the murder of Clifton Walker, an African American man who was killed outside of Woodville, MS on February 28, 1964; other murders; and substantial evidence that in 1964 community outcry and political pressure from government officials—including a state senator, a state representative and members of the Adams County Grand Jury—impeded and possibly stopped Mississippi Highway and Safety Patrol investigations of racial violence in Southwest Mississippi
Previously I was Director of Online Communications for Physicians for Human Rights (2006-2010) and guest editor for the Dollars & Sense Magazine special issue on the Gulf Coast region since Hurricane Katrina (2005-2006). I went on assignment for the magazine to Mississippi and Louisiana at the end of January, 2006.
I’ve been blogging at Hungry Blues since 2004. Typical topics have included: African American issues, Civil Rights Movement history, US torture policy, the Gulf Coast region since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, US cultural history and more.
